See Something? Say Something.

Interventions – Thoughts About Why, How, When, and Where to Make them

When we see something that doesn’t feel right to us – some stereotyping, prejudice, threatening behavior, slurs, etc. – we often are not sure how to respond – particularly if we don’t know the people involved.  Should we say or do something?  What could we do?

A number of people in the community have worked together recently to gather some suggestions about what might be useful if you find yourself witnessing something that is hurtful – things to think about when deciding whether and how to make an intervention, strategies for working with difficult situations with strangers.

This training will offer ideas, strategies, and things to think about, and will give you a chance to role-play scenarios. These suggestions are presented for people who would like to become more bold and effective in intervening in situations of oppressive or prejudicial behavior.
